Zambales DPWH ready for rainy season

The District Engineering Offices (DEOs) of Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in Zambales has completed a number of flood control projects in the province. This is expected to solve the perennial flooding of most areas here.

The 1st DEO reported that it has completed the construction of the P1.5 million slope protection along the riverbanks at barangay Kiling in Cabangan.

This will prevent flooding in the low-lying barangays of Cabangan where crops ready for harvest are often inundated.  Also, the slope protection will divert floodwaters from the national highway which is impassable during the rainy season.

Two major projects completed by the Zambales 2nd DEO will likewise protect the province from widespread flooding.  The P9.2 million rehabilitation of the Consuelo River in San Marcelino will prevent flooding in barangay Nagbunga and in Castillejos and San Narciso towns. The waterway connects Consuelo North Road to San Marcelino going to San Narciso.

Also completed at the cost of P11.853M is the construction of the slope protection of the Sacatihan River in Subic.

This slope starts from Sitio Gala, passes through barangays Amingway and Panatawan till its reaches its discharge point at Panatawan River.  DPWH Regional Director Antonio Molano said these two projects alone will benefit farming residents of the barangays in the various towns comprising the district.
