THE LIGHTHOUSE SPEARHEADS ENVIRONMENTAL ACTIVITIES

Some 200 Sky Lanterns light the warm sky of Subic Bay as the Lighthouse celebrated the annual Earth Hour – A Worldwide advocacy organized by the WWF (World Wildlife Foundation) with this year’s theme: “BEYOND EARTH HOUR”

The Lighthouse Marina Resort, along with hundreds of millions of people all over the world, actively participated in the global movement by switching off lights for Earth Hour last March 31, 2012.

Always a frontrunner in environmental activities in Subic, the Lighthouse Marina has been spearheading coastal cleanups, promoting sports and health awareness campaigns, and  ecotourism.

Recently, The Lighthouse, together with the SBMA Ecology and “Leave No Trace” (a US-based organization), launched a two-year tree planting exploration that took place on the soils of the magnificent Mt. Cinco Picos last March 10, 2012.

This is in line with the efforts of the Go Green Program that was simultaneously launched last March 26, 2011 during the Earth Hour.

The expedition was supported by the Manila Bulletin, Solar Entertainment, Side Trip Magazine, C! Magazine, Calibre Magazine, Mabuhay Magazine, Leave No Trace Org, UP Mountaineering Group, Accenture, Primer Group, Subictel, Enerzone, SBMA Ecology, Subic Bay Freeport Chamber of Commerce, International Yachting Federation of Rotarians, Ideal Niche Business Solutions, and Triptonomy Tours.

Part of the pre-earth hour activities included  Banda Solar’s electric powered shuttle service for Lighthouse guests’ leisurely visits to the Duty Free Shops and the Logos Hope Ship then docked at Subic Bay.
