SM is Olongapo’s Top Taxpayer

In a recent report revealed by the Business Permit and Licensing Office (BPLO) on the top twenty (20) business taxpayers for 2014, the SM group of companies took the first top three spots in terms of taxes paid with The SM Store taking the first spot, Supervalue,Inc.(SM Supermarket) second and SM Prime Holdings Inc. third.

Olongapo City Mayor Rolen Paulino handed the certificate of appreciation to the SM Group during the flag raising ceremony held at the Rizal Triangle on April 6, 2015.

SM City Olongapo was recognized as the top taxpayer in the city based on the gross sales of 2014 making it a remarkable benefactor for sustaining, maintaining, and improving the public services provided by government to its citizen.

“It’s a commitment to the local government that we pay our taxes, with this, we uphold to our role as a catalyst for economic development,” remarked Engr. Bong Garcia, asst. mall manager of SM Olongapo.

Other awardees from SM are Family Health & Beauty Corp.(Watsons), Star Appliance Center, Inc.(SM Appliance), Jollibee Foods Corporation and Ace Hardware Philippines, Inc.

Other businesses which placed in the top 20 business taxpayers list are Sun Life of Canada (Philippines), Inc., Avon Cosmetics, Inc., Pepsi-Cola Products Philippines, Inc., Arvin Uy Ting, Ajinomoto Philippines Corporation, Marinel Foods Corporation, Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company, Up line Foods Corporation, Colorview Catv, Inc., Our Lady of Lourdes International Medical Center Inc., Lee, Zenaida Go, City Savings Bank, Inc. and GR888T “C” Corporation.

As a responsible member of the community, SM Olongapo which opened in 2012 has spearheaded many corporate social responsibility projects such as handicap friendly facilities and environmental programs like a sewage treatment plant and the Trash to Crash recycling programs.

Mayor Paulino thanked the business group for honestly paying their taxes and encouraged them to continuously give better service to their customers. He also added that these taxes will be returned in the form of public service to the people.(PR-SMOL)
