SUBIC BAY FREEPORT — Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) Chairman and Administrator Engr. Eduardo Jose L. Aliño delivered a powerful and forward-looking State of the Freeport Address (SOFA) at the Subic Bay Exhibition and Convention Center (SBECC), where he unveiled record-breaking achievements and transformative plans aimed at establishing Subic as the country’s first carbon-neutral economic zone.
Aliño reported that SBMA achieved an all-time high in operating revenue for the third consecutive year, breaching the ₱4-billion mark in 2024 with a total of ₱4.109 billion. The Freeport also posted a remarkable 504% increase in committed investments, totaling ₱20.6 billion, alongside a 171% growth in committed employment, resulting in the creation of over 6,466 jobs.
Among the major projects highlighted were the Subic Bay Cruise Ship Terminal, a nearly ₱10-billion initiative; the expansion of housing and dormitory facilities to accommodate workers; and Subic’s recent honor as the “Most Sustainable Investment Hub in the Philippines” at the 2024 World Business Outlook Awards.
In alignment with global sustainability goals, SBMA is rolling out several green initiatives. These include the shore power project, which aims to reduce ship emissions by up to 95%, as well as the introduction of electric buses and solar energy programs.
“We are not only building for today—we are shaping a green and resilient Freeport for generations,” Aliño declared.
With strengthened partnerships across international ports and a strong focus on innovation, sustainability, and inclusivity, SBMA reaffirms its commitment to economic growth, environmental stewardship, and community development—positioning Subic Bay Freeport as a global model of progress with purpose.
