Relief For Monsoon, Typhoon Victims In Olongapo & Zambales

VARIOUS civic groups and business firms were quick to assist scores of residents of Olongapo City and Zambales recently affected by heavy monsoon rains worsened by typhoon Maring.
In the towns of Subic and Castillejos, RP Energy together with the One Meralco Foundation, Public Relations Department of SBMA, Olongapo City Social Development Office, Armed Forces of the Philippines and the concerned local government units served more than 2,000 families.
More than a thousand relief bags containing rice, canned goods, noodles, biscuits and water were also distributed to affected families in several barangays in Olongapo City as well as other parts of Zambales province.
Hygiene kits were also distributed in order to prevent and cure flood-related wounds and illnesses.
“Maraming salamat sa RP Energy sa agarang pagtulong sa ating mga Aetas sa Castillejos. Malaki ang magagawa nito sa pagbangon ng ating mga katutubo sa sitio San Isidro,” Castillejos Mayor Jose Angelo Dominguez said.
We have a responsibility towards the communities surrounding RP Energy especially during times of calamity. We do hope our relief efforts will help our stakeholders in Zambales deal with the distress brought about by typhoon Maring, “said RP Energy Corporate Social Responsibility Officer Victor Chan.
Meanwhile, Keppel Subic Shipyard, Inc., which operates at Sitio Cabangaan, Cawag, Subic, Zambales, donated sacks of rice and assorted goods for the victims of heavy rains , strong winds and floodings in the municipality.
Edwin Reyes, assistant to Subic Town Mayor Jay Khonghun received at the town hall Keppel’s assistance from Keppel Subic Gen. Manager Spencer Leong, Overall Yard Coordinator Agusto Valencia and Admin Manager Bernadette M. Avila.
In Iba, Zambales, Provincial Engineer Domeng Mariano, on behalf of Gov. Hermogenes Ebdane, Jr., received Keppel’s donation of rice and assorted goods from Valencia and Avila who travelled all the way from Subic to the province’s capital town.
“It is part of our Corporate Social Responsibility program,” said Avila, referring to Keppel’s voluntary donations for the victims of the latest calamity in the town of Subic and the province of Zambales. (VVV)
