Ready to Help Communities, New U.S. Peace Corps Volunteers Arrive in the Philippines

On October 5, U.S. Ambassador to the Philippines Philip S. Goldberg swore in 11 newly arrived U.S. Peace Corps Response Volunteers. The Volunteers will spend eight months at sites across the Philippines, collaborating with local government and university partners to improve disaster risk reduction and management, education, and environmental protection in their host communities. More than 8,000 Americans have served as Peace Corps Volunteers in the Philippines since 1961. The Philippines has the second oldest Peace Corps program in the world.
