NGCP donates school building

Transmission service provider and power grid operator NGCP continues to support the education of Filipino students with its recent turn-over of a two-classroom building in Cablong Elementary School, Sta. Barbara, Pangasinan.

Completed just in time for the opening of classes in June, the classrooms will accommodate two sections of kindergarten and Grade 6. The school is expecting a total of 340 pupils this school year. Another one-classroom building of NGCP in Balingeo Elementary School, Sta. Barbara, Pangasinan is expected to be completed this year.

As part of its corporate social responsibility, NGCP regularly and actively gives back to communities that host its facilities.

NGCP is currently constructing the Sta. Barbara Substation in Barangay Balingeo, Sta. Barbara, Pangasinan. Expected to be completed by the end of 2015, the Sta. Barbara Substation will accommodate the load growth of Dagupan Electric Company (DECORP), Pangasinan Electric Cooperative 1 (PANELCO I) and Central Pangasinan Electric Cooperative (CENPELCO).

The Sta. Barbara Substation will comply with the N-1 contingency requirement of the Philippine Grid Code enabling DECORP, PANELCO I and CENPELCO to draw and shift power from Sta. Barbara instead of Labrador and San Manuel Substations, which will eventually lessen time of outages or power interruptions.

NGCP is a privately owned corporation in charge of operating, maintaining, and developing the country’s power grid. It transmits high-voltage electricity through “power superhighways” that include the interconnected system of transmission lines, towers, substations, and related assets. The consortium, which holds the 25-year concession contract to operate the country’s power transmission network, is comprised of Monte Oro Grid Resources Corp. led by Henry Sy, Jr., Calaca High Power Corporation led by Robert Coyiuto, Jr., and the State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC) as technical partner
