“The one day affair was meant to explain to the host and neighboring communities of BCNMI the benefits of mining, give an overview of SDMP and clarify issues and concerns relative to the implementation of SDMP,” MGB Regional Director Danilo Uykieng said.
Attendees came from Yamot, Dampay, Lomboy and Binabalian in Candelaria and Guisguis, Bolitoc, Tubo-Tubo South, Tubo-Tubo North and Lucapon South in Sta. Cruz.
“SDMP is a required five-year partnership of the contractor with its host and neighboring communities as stipulated in Republic Act No.7942 otherwise known as Philippine Mining Act of 1995. It should be able to provide alternative livelihood opportunities for employees, their dependents, and the neighboring communities during the life-of-the-mine,” Uykieng explained.
