MARDI GRAS 2014. Thousands of local and foreign tourists jammed it up at Olongapo City’s Mardi Gras on Oct. 23-25, organized by Metro-Olongapo Chamber of Commerce & Industry (MOCCI) led by President Ruben de Guzman and Chairman Emiritus Aurelio “Bong” Pineda Mardi Gras 2014. The event that raised funds for worthy community projects of the city government provided a well-deserved respite from the brouhaha and alternative to lost opportunities to the economy suffered by the city due to a male homosexual’s death that is being blamed on a US marine soldier and blown out of proportion by media that fed on the noisy pocket protests of leftist and homosexual groups, prompting US Authorities to cancel liberty of some 5,000 sailors and marines.
