Thousands of applicants trooped to the Keppel Subic Shipyard Jobs Fair at Plaza Cafe Covered Court, Asinan Poblacion, Subic, Zambales recently.
Job openings range from engineers, electricians, welders, pipefitters, office workers and many others. Keppel Subic Shipyard President Kok Kweng Leon and Keppel Philippines Marine Inc. Sr. Vice President Agnes Barbara Lorenzo were joined by Subic Town Mayor Jay Khonghun who was guest of honor in simple ceremonies opening the Jobs Fair.
Various contractors/sub-contractors took part in the Jobs Fair that primarily aims to provide priority and opportunity for Zambales and Olongapo residents to land jobs in Keppel’s contract to build the Depletion Completion Chamber for Shell Malampaya’s Phase 3 expansion project.
The Malampaya Field, some 80 kms. off Palawan in the West Philippines Sea, fuels with natural gas three major power plants, particularly in Batangas, generating a total of some 2700 MW, around 45% of the Luzon Grid supply, making it a vital entity in the economy of the country.
