Kalalake National High School concludes Buwan ng Wikang Pambansa
Kalalake National High School recently concluded its celebration of Buwan ng Wikang Pambansa 2024 with a spectacular event held at SM Olongapo Central on September 4, 2024. The theme for this year’s celebration, per Proklamasyon Blg. 1041 s. 1997, as “Filipino: Wikang Mapagpalaya,” emphasizing the importance of language in liberation and empowerment.
The highlight of the event was the Lakan at Lakambini 2024 pageant, organized by SHS Teacher III Joseph Angelo E. Salazar and SHS Teacher II Debiemel J. Bronil. The competition featured Senior High School students who showcased their talents and cultural pride in a vibrant display of Filipino heritage.
Guiding the audience through the festivities were hosts SHS Master Teacher II Felina A. Ting and JHS OIC-HT English Lino Eduarte, who kept the energy high and the excitement palpable throughout the event. A panel of esteemed judges, including Mr. Troy A. Hammond, Ms. Annalyn V. Andrade, and Adrian Karl L. Cobardo, had the challenging task of selecting the winners from the pool of talented participants.
Among the standout winners were Cyruz V. Zafra (Grade 11-ICT) who clinched the title of Lakan ng Wika, and Athena Aely Delfino (Grade 11-ABM) who was crowned Lakambini ng Wika. Other winners included Jason Kristof C. Elison (Grade 11-HUMSS) and Chely Rain L. Rafanan (Grade 12-HE) who secured the 2nd place in Lakan at Lakambini ng Sining category.
Acknowledgments were extended to School Principal Dr. Soledad E. Pozon and OIC-Assistant School Principal, Dr. Lovella M. Jarobel for their unwavering support in making the event a success. The event wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication and hard work of KNHS teachers, parents, students, and guests. Different sponsors were also recognized for their contributions to the various activities held during the celebration.
The event served as a testament to the school community’s commitment to promoting and preserving the Filipino language and culture, uniting everyone in a celebration of national pride and heritage. As the festivities came to a close, the spirit of Buwan ng Wika continued to resonate, inspiring all present to continue honoring and celebrating the richness of Filipino culture. (Felina A. Ting)
