Cello Rock Band at Casa San Miguel

As a part of the U.S. Department of State’s American Music Abroad Program, the U.S. Embassy in the Philippines is hosting cello rock band Break of Reality for a series of music workshops and performances in Zambales from January 31 to February 1, including a FREE public performance on February 1 at 6:00 p.m. at Casa San Miguel.

Formed in 2003 at the prestigious Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York, Break of Reality’s signature cello rock sound has bridged the gap between classical, rock and world music listeners. The group has sold out concerts in North America, South America, Europe, and Asia, and is regarded as one of the world’s premiere alt-classical chamber ensembles.

In addition to performing and recording, Break of Reality is dedicated to educational initiatives through music. While in the Philippines, the group is conducting workshops, master classes, and outreach programs at universities where they perform alongside music students and encourage them to think outside of the box with their instruments through improvisation.
