Celebrating Grandparents’ Day: “Serve More Love for the Elderly”
As part of Employee Volunteerism Program(EVP) of SM Supermalls, through the Human Resources Department, SM mall employees across the country initiated a volunteerism project dubbed “Serve More Love for the Elderly” in celebration of the Grandparents’ Day.
Volunteer employees of SM Olongapo spent a meaningful day with the elderly through a Wellness Activity, Parlor Games, a short talk on Disaster Preparedness and lecture on Physiological Changes Encountered by Elders and free haircut courtesy of Livelihood Cooperative and Development Office.
“The employee volunteerism program, dubbed as “Serve More Love for the Elderly” focuses on the program of SM Supermalls that demonstrates more care for the Elderly. It is a way of encouraging employees to demonstrate their social responsibility by engaging in socially beneficial activities,” said Dang Lo, SM Olongapo HR Manager.
SM Pampanga employees visited the Bahay Pag-ibig House of Prayer in Holy Angel Village, Telebastagan City of San Fernando Pampanga where they turned over some gifts and donations to the senior beneficiaries, they also distributed loot bags donated by Sky Ranch. Part of their program was a dance number of Sky Ranch mascot and a song number from selected SM employees.
The SM Clark volunteers on the other hand visited the senior Aetas of Sapang Bato, Sitio Target, the hometown of Apl De Ap of Black Eyed Peas. Aeta elderlies entertained the guests through the rendition of their traditional dance while SM employees rendered some timely songs.
Meanwhile, SM San Fernando Downtown and Savemore Apalit employees voluntarily bestowed some gifts to the elderly. They also sponsored activities like physical wellness, Talk about personal hygiene and fun games. The event ended up leaving a smile to elderly’s faces and a positive feedback for the efforts of the volunteers.
“Ako po’y nagpapasalamat sa pamunuan ng SM na nagmamahal, pumapatnubay at sumusuporta sa aming mga seniors, idinadalangin ko na sanay patuloy pang patnubayan ang SM , ang mga empleyado nito at pamunuan,” remarked Eva Banas, 67, from Brgy. West Tapinac, Olongapo.(PR-SMOL)
