Forest Fire in Southern Zambales Mountain

With the city lights of Olongapo and the Subic Freeport in the foreground, the fire that has consumed hectares upon hectares of trees and vegetation on a mountain in Southern Zambales burn through the midnight and into the wee hours of Tuesday morning.
Fires like this are often left to “die a natural death,” as it is in most parts of the country, with little or no intervention from firefighters who mainly respond only to fire incidents in human populated areas. No human casualty has been reported, or is expected, but damage to the environment, including old trees and saplings, on top of undetermined wildlife, cannot be underestimated.
