“Himig ‘Gapo: Jam for Tacloban”

A concert for Supertyphoon “Yolanda” relief is set on November 29, 2013, 6pm at the 7th floor of SM City Olongapo, a one-night benefit concert featuring Olongapo bands.

The concert aims to raise money, relief, and awareness in response to the loss of lives and human suffering brought about by  super-typhoon “Yolanda in the Visayan region, particularly Tacloban, Ormoc, Cebu, Iloilo, Antique, Capiz, and Bicol.

The concert called “Himig ‘Gapo: Jam for Tacloban” encourages local government officials and employees, private sectors, students and private individuals to embrace relief efforts.

During the “Himig ‘Gapo” concert, SM City Olongapo will open its doors to individuals/groups, local businesses and enterprises who are willing to volunteer and join in raising funds in the biggest fund-raising event in Olongapo.

Aside from this effort, the SM Group recently donated P100M, the largest allocation so far for those affected by the calamity which will focus on five different areas of assistance:

• P20M for immediate relief through food packs

• P20M for assisting in the rehabilitation of schools

• P20M for building shelter communities

• P20 M for assisting in the rehabilitation of churches

• P20 M for assisting in the rehabilitation of community centers, and helping to provide medical missions

SM Foundation is taking the lead in the relief efforts with the nationwide reach of SM Cares of the mall group, SM Savemore, and BDO Foundation. In addition to these efforts, “Tulong Express” is open for donation of relief goods in SM malls, and an account in both BDO and Chinabank is also accepting cash donations.

The Sy Family said “our family invites everyone within the SM Group to work together, among ourselves and with community groups, to expand the efforts and widen the reach of our relief operations. With your added support, we hope to touch as many lives as we can.
